Road to Peace's Placement

Written on Jun 8, 2022

48 hours from the time we left our apartment in Papua, until we arrivedat Peter's house in SC.  I've certainly had worse trips, but this trip was marked by the hordes of people.  Our flight arrived in Japan at the time that our next flight to Houston opened for boarding!  This diminuative Japanese lady pushed my wheelchair past every obstacle and to the head of every line and made it through customs, security check, and reticketing/negative covid check in half an hour.  Not to mention covering a great deal of ground.  Rick was pushing to get through so hard that he did not bother putting on his belt after security and carried it in his hand.  As we sat down on the plane he realized he did not have it!  (I was wondering what new adventures a beltless Rick might pose.)  Right before we departed, one of the airline hostesses walked the aisles with his belt asking if it were anyone's??  So we were spared wardrobe malfunctions.

In Houston we had 3 hours, but I have never seen such lines.  If we had not been in a wheelchair I am sure it would have taken over 3 hours to make it to the next flight.  The immigration check itself was 2 1/2 hours long. (We know because as we waited at our gate, frantic people were running up trying to make a connection that had all ready flown.  The attendant said he was 28 people short for the flight that had just departed and he mentioned how long the lines were....and this was a Tuesday afternoon. What are the weekends like?)  Even the wheelchair lines were backed up at some places.

With all of that  our luggage came through!!!! The flights themselves were just long and boring, and now I am jetlagging, which is why you are getting this writing in the middle of the night.  I do know that we are just fine and comfortable and well able to successfully function when we arrive at whatever place God is sending us, but if there were some reason that we could not continue the lifestyle that we live, a major factor would be we just could not heft the luggage any longer (Rick does all of that), and we could not face the exhaustion of travel.

We will leave SC Thursday afternoon for FL to pick up Peace. Although we very gratefully have recieved some help in gathering information, we still have no clarity as to how it will work out with Peace in MA.  Please continue to pray.  Thank the Lord for a smooth flight with our luggage arriving, but also plead for help in getting Peace to the right place at the right time with the right people.
