Personal Journeys

Written on Mar 10, 2018

Our journey in cross-cultural ministry began in 1973 when we moved from Northern Minnesota to South Carolina. If you are asking why this was cross-cultural while it is still in the U.S., you have never made this kind of move. It was monumental. I could not even understand what my students were saying to me in the grade one class at a children’s home. (We had 100 kids in care back then.) The Lord has led since then through 10 years in Latin America, 10 years in Africa, and 8 years in Asia. My goal in this blog is to share current insights into our daily life in China. But I also want to share from our book, Eight Steps to Emotional, Relational, Spiritual Wholeness: The Healing Power of the Beatitudes.  We are asking for help in creating a following through this blog in order to more successfully publish our book.

  2. YES . . . Southern hillbilly culture is quite different from Northern Minnesota and you landed smack dab in the midst of it. I'm sure that language was not the only difference. It was God's schooling to prepare you for further cross-cultural experiences. Although Rick was always reading back then, I remember he was reading "Communicating Christ Cross-Culturally" by David Hesselgrave.

  3. Language was definitely not the only difference. And yes, definitely God's classroom.

    1. No, just looking at it, no movement. Want to find an agent, but can't seem to find one. If we self publish, we have no way to market it.
