An English Tutoring Center

(I have been told that maybe there is no alert to your email since I changed the title of our blogpost to asiabeatitudes.blogspot.com. If this is true, I would like to know. I am not sure how to solve it , but I need to know if it is a problem. We continue to need "views" as we are now at least in a conversation with a possible helper in publishing our book.)

We went to visit an English teaching tutoring center this morning. We had been put in touch with Fey through Michael Sapp, a friend from Senegal 15 years ago who lives here in Beijing!! Fey was looking for teachers. Upon reflection we realized that our visas probably precluded us being able to accept money for situations like this. However, we wanted to see if we could trade teaching for the use of a room to have our Friday night BOOK study. (We have found a possible coffee shop that might work for our study, but it is rather public.) However, as we talked with Fey we realized that it would be a matter of endangering not just us, but also her, her organization, and the students. Fey said sometimes people entering the building were monitored, etc. As we were explaining to her what we wanted to do, but that it was not really a good idea, she was surprised that there was as many current restrictions being placed on spiritual groups. And then her question, “But why would you want to teach the B___ anyway?”  I guess I have never been asked this question. I told her that it was important to our life and something we felt we needed to share. That we had done this in many places. She just stared at us in incomprehension. Our time together ended comfortably, and maybe Rick will go in and teach some English topics for the parents. When we got home, Michael was on our Wechat account saying that Fey had been in a 45 minute conversation with him asking why we were so pious and why we would want to do this. He is a long term friend to her and she felt comfortable asking him. It takes some to plant the seed and some to water. Please continue to remember our need to find a place and whether we should start a study of Luke or not. There continues to be increasing pressure on groups. And it is hard for us to hear the Father’s voice as to what to do. I even had a dream in which Rick’s cousin, Cathy Sutton, a close friend and fellow devoted missionary with New Tribes Mission, told me that we should not have a study yet. Whatever do I do with that??? I have posted on the group from last year on Wechat that we will try next Friday. I have not received any response. We need to take this step by step and not run ahead.
