Road to Indonesia--- Sports and Online Notarizing

Written on Jan 21, 2021

Just finished watching my first high school boys and girls basketball games here at Hillcrest. Any of you that know me, remember how faithful I am  at attending hs games.  This was fun.  No schools are really open here other than ours, so they are playing club teams, which are ladies and men in their 30's +.  They lost both games, but that of course is not really the point. The facilites here are very nice, and open air, so as the evening fell, it even became cooler. It is such an important part of the school experience and it is good that the kids here can have this time. Fun to be part of the community, and memories of many other games at schools like this that I have been blessed by. Sports are pretty international.

But I was really, really exhausted, and walked up the hill to home for an hour in the middle and laid down. We had spent 4 hours this afternoon, trying to get our letter of permission to access our Chinese bank account notarized online. It was so very frustrating. We tried in 2 classrooms and our apartment to access the software necessary to relate to the notary. And every time we tried, we had to sign in with a different email account, or they tried to sell us a long term plan, rather than just the $25 per document.  (And one only has just so many emails.) We also would get notaries from TX or FL.  No one from PA. I got mine notarized by a helpful gentleman from FL. But then for Rick all we ended up with was notaries from TX, so we finally just verfied that way. (We at least needed the same state notarizing, so that we only had to have the agent authorize our paperwork from one State Department. )  Finally, we tried one last time, 4 hours later,  and got the very first gentleman who had verified me from FL, so got Rick another document verified from FL.  Of course, we were told that online notarizing is not to be used for overseas business, but it seemingly is the only option open to us, so we are going to try it and see. Prayers.
